Population Balance Modeling of the Dissolution of Polydisperse Solids: Rate Limiting Regimes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Significant errors can result in modeling dissolution processes if the polydispersity of the solid particles is ignored and the sample is treated as a collection of monodisperse spheres having the average size of the mixture. Population balance modeling provides an effective analytical means of predicting the effect of polydispersity on a wide variety of heterogeneous reaction systems including dissolution processes. S. Modeling and Simulation of Kuhni Extraction Column Using a Rate-based Model
In this study, liquid-liquid extraction process in a Kuhni extraction column was modeled and simulated. A non-equilibrium dynamic model was developed for modeling liquid-liquid extraction processes based on a rate-based model. The model equations are inclusive of partial and ordinary differential equations which were discretized in column height direction. The population balance model was used ...
متن کاملAnalytically Modeling of In Vitro Calcium Dissolution of Plasma- Sprayed Hydroxyapatite Coatings
The in vitro dissolution of plasma-sprayed hydroxyapatite (PHA) coatings with different characteristics, produced by various spraying conditions, in a Tris-buffered solution at pH 7.4 was experimentally studied through the measurement of calcium ions release with Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES), and then modeled. Three coating characteristics, th...

This paper uses the framework of new Keynesian school and the literature of the Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model to build a general model that can be estimated for Iran economy. By simulating this model, the effects of the implementation of monetary and foreign exchange policies through policy instruments including bank interest rate, central bank international reserves and t...
متن کاملMathematical model for mass transfer coefficient determination in dissolution process
Mathematical models play an essential role in simulation of dynamic processes as they provide insights into the description and behaviour of real systems. Models of chemical processes are derived from laws of conservation, thermodynamic, and control design. In the present paper, we study the modelling of dissolution process determining the quasi steady state material balance for velocity profil...
متن کاملPopulation Balance Modelling of Zirconia Nanoparticles in Supercritical Water Hydrothermal Synthesis
Like any other precipitation process, in supercritical water hydrothermal synthesis (SWHS), the need to improve product quality and minimize production cost requires understanding and optimization of Particle Size Distribution (PSD). In this work, using Population Balance Equation (PBE) containing nucleation and growth terms, the reactive precipitation of zirconia nanoparticles prepared by ...
